Seven
We made it to seven years of marriage! Woo hoo! My husband and I met about 10 years ago when we were both stationed in Germany. Seven years and 2 kids later, I can trully say it's beena rough road but it's all worth it. God has trully blessed us!
So when we got married, we decided that instead of spending money on extravagant gifts for one another, we would get creative and follow the tradional wedding gift list. I loved this idea because it's quite exciting to see what we can come up with for one another. Although I may seem like the most creative one out of us both, he has outdone himself every year. 1st Year: Paper 2nd Year: Cotton 3rd Year: Leather 4th Year: Fruit/ Flowers 5th Year: Wood 6th Year: Candy/ Iron
This year, I think I have finally came up with an amazing gift that he would enjoy. This year, is the year of wool and/or copper. Copper has a traditional meaning of prosperity, good luck, and good fortune. Couples who celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary can indeed celebrate their good fortune in finding one another. The gift of wool represents the comfort, durability, security, and warmth that couples married this long give one another.
Since he enjoys my sewing, I decided to go ahead make him a toiletry bag made from faux wool (felt) and faux leather. I went to this upscale shaving boutique, The Art of Shaving, and filled his bag with some shaving balm, shaving cream, after shave, a shaving brush, and gorgeous copper shaving razor.
The toiletry bag took quite some time because since I was using contrasting thread, I had to make sure that everything was perfectly straight. If you want to make this toiletry bag for a special man in your life, you can use the makeup bag tutorial that I linked below and adjust the measurements as follows: Zipper (Metal): 16"-18" Main Bag (Felt): 12" x 16" Lining: (Duck Cloth): 12" x 16" Interfacing: 12" x 16" * Take note: When measuring your corners, each corner should be 2.5" deep and 5" across.
