Kids Edition: High Slit Tunic

Who's ready to go back to school?! We are!!

This Summer was busy and extra special for us. My daughter asked me to teach her how to sew! You guys....I was over the moon! This dress was one of the first dress she cut out on her own. She sewed most of the garment herself, but there were a few things I had to assist with. To make things easy for her, I started her out with cotton fabric. I feel like this is the easiest fabric to sew, so this was a no brainer for us to use it.

The pattern we used was McCalls 7111 View D. We did make an alteration to it to make it look more.....in her words " cool". I simply wanted to elevate this plain jane design. So, to alter the design, we only sewed about 1/3 of the side seam. The rest of it, we left open. So chic!

Pairing the top with a distressed pair of denim jeans and black sandals gave this an effortless and fashionable look. Who's going to be the best dressed in her class? This girl right here.
