SPRING IS HERE!!!

What does that mean? Well, to me that means that I can get rid of my heavy coats however, the weather is still a bit cool, so I still need a lightweight coat to keep warm. My Spring coat of choice this year is the Sapporo Coat from Papercut Patterns. You guys…..the design of this coat is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! It’s so modern and the cocoon shape is such an interesting shape to look at. It’s so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. There are two lengths for this coat, so I’m sure you can find what fits what you are looking for. If you' haven’t made this coat yet, I’d highly recommend that you do.

I know I’ve mentioned this in the past, but I want to share it again. When I first learned to sew, I learned through the instructions of patterns. I learned so much sewing repetitively and reading the pattern instructions. I’ve been sewing for several years now and I still learn so much from pattern instructions. I actually learned two new techniques from the Sapporo coat alone. We all have a different approach to sewing so learning from other people especially indie pattern designers is so rewarding. I love learning from other sewists and if you do too, support them and learn from their pattern instructions like I do.

The fabric that I chose for this coat was a wool from Joann Stores. This past Fall, Joanns brought out jewel colored wool fabric and I just couldn’t help myself but buy so much yardage of almost all of the colors. I mean, I just loved it all. Jewel tones are my ultimate favorite so this collection of colors was hard to turn down.
