Spring Florals. Groundbreaking.

Happy Women’s History Month!

Joann recently came out with a super fun and colorful collection in honor of women all over the world. I love that with this collection, it’s a celebration of the strength and power of a woman. The collection includes fabric, bags, and so much more. Within this collection, I came across this gorgeous mini floral charmeuse fabric. I’m just going to be up front and honest with you, the pictures on the website do not do this fabric justice. When I initially saw it, I wasn’t all the way sold on it. I went ahead and got it just to try it out and I’m so glad I did! The drape is absolutely stunning, it feels buttery on the skin, and the colors give off a fun 60s’/ 70’s vibe.

I’ve really been into sets lately so, with this fabric, I thought a cropped button-up paired with a midi length circle skirt would be perfect. I love how it came out!! It’s playful, it’s vibrant, and dare I say, it looks expensive. You may see the set in this style in the future from me because I plan on making it again with another fabric.

HOW IT’S MADE

Here are a few things that I did to create this look

  • Top- The pattern I used to create the top was New Look 6266. To be honest you can use any button-up shirt pattern. I shortened the length of this pattern for a cropped look. The top was lined to give the top a bit more weight and structure.

  • Bottom- No pattern is needed to create a circle skirt. There are many Youtube tutorials online. I created a midi length for my skirt and lined the skirt with white lining

STYLING

I wanted to play up the vintage feel of this fabric, so I styled the look with a pair of green velvet heels. These heels are super cute! I love the fabric of these heels but also the big bow. I also wore some mint green sunnies and earrings. All of my accessories are a different shade of green. They pull from the green flowers in the skirt that are also different shades of green. My wicker handbag and flowers (both found at JOANN) is a nice addition. It doesn’t take away from the look, but it adds a beautiful compliment to the look as a whole. I love how it all came together.
